Active Funds

The Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC) was incorporated in November 2006 and received its Internal Revenue Service determination in December 2007. Field of Interest Funds

  • BESide You Fund – to support children and senior adults with needs in Harford County
  • Sandra and John Ferriter Fund – to support organizations in Harford County working to provide hunger relief and end hunger in Harford County
  • Anne and John Gessner Fund – to support organizations in Harford County serving people who are homeless
  • Sadie’s Fund – to benefit animal shelters caring for domestic and feral cats in Harford County, MD, promoting and extending the lives of cats cared for by the shelters
  • Shaffer-Lienhard Caregivers Support Fund – to pay for respite care and other support for those who are providing hands-on in-home care to a family member
  • Louis and Marion Storm Fund – to support the facilities of The Humane Society of Harford County and to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children though education, sports, recreation, wellness, fitness, and health activities

  • Edward V. Goetz Environmental Science Scholarship Fund – for graduates from Harford County high schools or their equivalent pursuing an environmental career that requires higher education or advanced training. Learn more
  • Colin J. Haller Memorial Fund – to honor the life of Colin J. Haller by supporting Harford County students.Read more about Colin Haller.
  • William A. Humbert Memorial Scholarship Fund – for advanced instrumental music students who graduated from Harford County high schools or their equivalent.  Learn more
  • Maria Ortiz Scholarship Fund – for undergraduate students who are residents of Harford County and are pursuing a degree in nursing. The scholarship is awarded through Harford Community College.  Donations have been given from donors throughout the United States in memory of Captain Maria Ines Ortiz, an Army nurse who volunteered to care for wounded soldiers and Iraq children, and from the local chapter of Women In Defense. She was the first Army nurse killed in combat since the Vietnam War.
